September 19, 2012 Bill Rybak, 77, of Jamesville, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family and care givers after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School and received his Master's Degree in Physical Education from Syracuse University. Billy was a well known southpaw for V.O., S.U., the New York State League, and went on to pitch for the Dodger organization. Serving in the U.S. Marine Corps influenced all aspects of Bill's later life. William retired after 35 years with the S.C.S.D. As a physical education teacher and a COACH, spending most of his professional career at Clary School on Syracuse's Southside. Bill was an avid boater, hunter, and fisherman enjoying great times with his brother John, and his buddy, Rudy Tomasik.. Bill was a member of the Syracuse Pistol Club and two R.C. Flying Clubs- The Voltaires and the Oneida Lake Flyers. He helped to deliver Meals on Wheels for FM-JD. Bill was predeceased by his parents William C. Rybak and Mary Maryo Rybak, and his first wife Peggy Stiner Rybak. He is survived by his wife, June Thomas Rybak, his brothers David (Judy) Rybak and John (Sharon) Rybak, brother-in-law David (Cathy) Thomas, sisters-in-law Julie (Vera) Thomas and Jodi (Lin) Thomas. Bill had a very special relationship with his many nephews: David (Kim) Rybak, Andrew Rybak, Michael Rybak, Kevin Rybak, Joshua Thomas, Scott Thomas, Glenn Phillips, Brad (Helen)Jenne, Brian (Marie) Gauthier, and Jeff (Kim) Jackson. Bill is also survived by his beloved schnauzer, Zena. Bill and his family were very blessed to have the help and support of his “team” of angels during the last months of his life: Marion Boshane, Erin Cook, Lindsay Gonyea, Michelle Petit, Michelle Spier, Tammy Wiggins, and the nurses and staff of Hospice of C.N.Y.
