My condolences to the Klein family. You have lost a beloved, talented, and respected man. I worked with Phil in Lake George at John Palmer's piano lounge in the summers of 1961 and 1962. I last saw Phil when he played at my son's wedding at the Solvay country club in 2001. Joe Sorrentino (drummer)

I knew Phil Klein from May Memorial Unitarian Church many years ago. More recently I was honored to enjoy his
piano playing (with vocalist Scott Dennis) at Artist Piano.
Although I didn’t know Phil well, two things about him stand out: 1. He was a great musician in every sense of
the word. 2. He was exceptionally kind to everyone. Many people, like myself, will miss him!

I knew Phil first through his sister Rosemary Heaney who was such a delight and activist and pistol like himself! Phil was involved in so many good causes as well as being such a musical genius. My son worked at Maple Downs and always talked about what a wonderful person he was and occasionally saw him at the piano. He was a delight and a gift to this community and I am glad to have a few of his CDs and will honor his memory.

Dear Amy,
I don't know if you remember me from the old neighborhood in Fairmount, but I grew up on Semloh Drive. My mother, Irene, worked in the Registrar's office at OCC and knew your father. Your dad played at my grandfather's 90th birthday party in 1984 and also at my wedding reception in 1993. He was always so sociable and just an all round great person. I am saddened to learn of his passing and will always remember him fondly. I wish you peace and comfort in knowing how he touched so many lives.

Phil Klein was a great teacher, while at OCC I was having difficulty choosing my next college to transfer to. I had auditioned at potsdam, but was looking to go out of state. He connected me with Murray State in KY where I was truly happy. If not for him I'm not sure if I would have continued in music as a career. Thank you Mr. Klein.

My father, Marvin Bottrill, was a huge fan of Phil Klein. He valued Phil's friendship and my father thoroughly enjoyed attending the many weekly piano recitals that Phil performed so often for so many to enjoy. Phil was very kind to my Dad in many ways and for that my family is forever grateful. With deepest sympathy to Phil's family and loved ones.

Phil and I were friends when we both taught at OCC. What an extraordinary personality he had! He was smart, outgoing, and positive and I always felt like he was delighted to see me; that was one of his gifts. He had a long, varied and productive life. What more could anyone ask for?

I'm so sorry for your loss Amy. Phil was a great man and a truly kind and giving spirit. He was one of the greatest teachers and mentors I've had in my life and I'm am so blessed and grateful to have had him as a friend. He helped me become aware of so many things both musically and philosophically and I'm forever in his gratitude. He was a tireless seeker of truth and helped empower me to look beyond the lies of society to find the goodness. He will be greatly missed as he was loved by many but his enormous legacy will live on in the many lives of those he touched. His life was truly a gift to us all and I know I'll see him again one day in the great oneness that is eternal creation! RIP my brother

Hi Amy,
Sorry for your loss. Elaine and I were good friends of Rosemary and John, and Julie. Over 20 years ago, Phil played for our mother's 90 birthday party, outdoors at a lakeside, on the grass under a tent. Marvelous memories!

Phil was such an influence and an amazing friend. Working together at Oakdale Piano, we were able to share so much time together. It was a blessing I’ll never forget. It’s on oft used phrase, but Phil was truly one of a kind. Who, btw, loved his daughter like she was the whole world. My sincere sympathies to the rest of his family and friends. We lost a mighty good man.
