Obituary of Mary Binsley

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary D. (Lazarek) Binsley, 78, of Syracuse went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20 after a long battle with heart disease. She grew up in Oswego, and graduated from Oswego Catholic High School.  She went on to study for her Bachelor’s degree at Syracuse University. Mary was kind, compassionate, and generous.  In her earlier years, she enjoyed camping with her family and neighbors, neighborhood block parties and cookouts, and raising her three sons.  In her later years, she enjoyed reading, traveling, and working in the sales and marking field for many local assisted living facilities.  She is predeceased by her father, former Mayor of Oswego, Walter Lazarek Sr.; mother Mary Lazarek; sister Marge Rankin; brother in-law Don Rankin; and brother Walter Jr. “Sonny”.  Mary is survived by her sons Chris (Sue) Binsley of Schwenksville, PA; Mark (Lisa) Binsley of Canastota; and Paul (Christina) Binsley of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Tony, Jeff, Benjamin, and Blake and one great grandchild Grayson; brothers Stanley (Jean); Albert; and Steve (Beth); her aunt Irene Kuzawski; as well as several nieces and nephews.  We will be honoring Mary’s request to forgo a funeral service, so plans for a celebration of life memorial will be announced at a later date.
