Lana Mae Wilczynski

Obituary of Lana Mae Genevieve Wilczynski

Please share a memory of Lana Mae to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lana Mae Genevieve Wilczynski, 2 ½, passed away September 6, 2021, at home. From conception, Lana was dealt many challenges that would she would carry with her until God called her home. Her life was full of medical mysteries and unanswered questions. Lana Mae’s diagnoses included microcephaly, failure to thrive, severe obstructive sleep apnea and (unofficially) severe autism. Lana underwent countless tests, procedures, therapies and surgeries to treat her symptoms during which she was always so brave and often handled without a single whimper.

Lana Mae was born on January 1st, 2019 at Community General Hospital to Jason J. Wilczynski and Melissa S. Liepke. She is survived by her mother, father, three half-sisters; Camara “Cami” Corless, Payton Corless, and Haley Wilczynski, grandparents; Joe and Joan Wilczynski and Dawn Feher Aldrous, her great-grandmother; Carleen “Gladys” Liepke; Aunts; Sara Feher, Samantha Feher, Susan Lado (Jason), Lisa DeSantis (Nick), Uncles; Joseph Wilczynski (Andrea Pollock), as well as countless great aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her Great Grandmother “Babci” Helen Bartoszewski, and her grandfather; “Papa” Ralph P. Liepke.

Lana will be remembered for her bravery, her unwillingness to do things “by the book” but rather at “Lana’s pace”, her incredible strength, both in perseverance as well as the pull-ups she relentlessly did on her window sill. The type of love and interest that Lana showed for the world around her was unlike your typical toddler. Lana loved lights of all sorts; the sun, her plush Minnie Mouse night light, her set of Linkimals toys (especially Otter) and even the light isle at Home Depot seemed magical to her. Her absolute favorite toy was her ride-on Minnie Mouse airplane. She repeatedly pressed the same buttons and stared ever so closely at the light-up propellers as they spun. She also had an intense interest in everyone’s mouth, including the ones on her stuffed toys. Lana showed affection to her very first Valentine’s gift, baby Groot. Mommy would say, “aww, we love baby Groot”, to which Lana would hug her little Groot by tucking him under her chin. Lana also looked forward to her seeing her therapists; Kristine, Caroline and Beth. She began learning American Sign Language and loved sing-a-long songs.
