Obituary of Rafal I Popiel

Rafał Popiel, 66, passed away on November 6th, 2021 in Syracuse. He was the husband of Ivona Popiel. They shared 32 years of marriage together.

Born in Gorki Zagajne, Poland he was the son of Julian and Helena Popiel. He grew up in Janowiec Wielkopolski, Poland. He worked as a toolmaker at Frazer and Jones Co. in Syracuse for over 15 years. He was previously employed at Crouse-Hinds Co. for 15 years.

He enjoyed building a loving home together with his wife and playing golf with friends. He also enjoyed watching soccer and basketball games with his son, and sharing plant-based meals with his daughter. He will be remembered for being a devoted, loving, and caring husband, father, son, brother, and friend. 

He is survived by his wife Ivona Popiel and children Gabriel and Sophie Popiel. Also by his mother Helena Popiel and siblings Eleonora Duchan, Henryka Muślewska, Andrzej Popiel, and Robert Popiel and their respective families. He was predeceased by his father Julian Popiel.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 12th, 2021 at 4 to 6PM  at Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at 9:30 AM at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 927 Park Ave, Syracuse, NY.
