My parents are interred at the Veterans Cemetery a few sites to the right of Ted’s final resting place. I was visiting one afternoon and although aware of others nearby I wasn’t paying close attention. As I stood teary eyed at my father’s stone, I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder and an offer of a clean tissue. Mr. Kocienski introduced himself and for the next several minutes we shared a heartfelt conversation about love, loss, family and gratitude. Each time I visit my parents’ site, I check to see if Ted had joined his beloved. When I visited yesterday…I found he has. Just a few moments with him touched me deeply in a way I shall always count as a gift.

Ted will be remembered kindly. He was my sister in law's father, and always had a smile on his face when we saw him on various occasions. Ted would send kielbasa our way as he knew how much we enjoyed it . He never failed to call to thank us for cards sent and we had some good conversations. He will be missed. A fifty dollar donation was made to the Polish Home in Ted's memory.

It would be a sin not to offer my heartfelt condolences and sympathies on the loss of this fine gentleman who myself and my fellow workers grew to know and admire over the last 20+ years. "Teddy", as we affectionately called him, was the epitome of kindness and generosity even though he was of humble means. We will miss his visits to buy batteries or tape, or anything else that gave him a reason to get out of the house to come and visit us and our mascot "Addie" and bring treats for her and cookies or doughnuts for the rest of his friends. A true gentleman and hero who was proud of his service and sacrifice for our country and someone who I believe didn't have a "bad bone" in his body. I never heard him say ill of anyone, even when he had reason, and his constant smile and warmth are something I will always remember. Even when his health and mobility were failing him he never asked for pity or help from his friends, it was, it seemed to me, that he didn't want others to be saddened by his struggles. I know that this soul is definitely in a better place, but can't feel but saddened that the world has lost a "good soul".
