Obituary of James Vincent Nolan III
James “Jim” Vincent Nolan III, 77, died January 18 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Formerly of Syracuse, Jim moved to South Florida in 1974 to manage a mango grove owned by a family friend. Shortly after, he commenced his career in the landscaping business by opening his first business -“Jimmy’s Nursery,” a native tree farm located in Homestead, FL. He specialized in relocating Royal Palm trees and was a primary landscape provider for the Miami Metro Rail project, along with many other large public projects. He was a life-long “fitness devotee,” becoming a tri-athlete and competing throughout the Southeast United States. He was a “proud” graduate of Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse) and the Ciudad Universitaria of Mexico. Predeceased by his parents, James V. and Helen (Kobuszewski) Nolan, and his brother Alfred Nolan (Bonita Block). Jim is survived by seven children, Noona (Paul), Abner (Clare), Milton (Samantha), Thomas (Harumi), Mary, James (Aya) and Stella (Richard), and eight grandchildren who all inherited his love of trees and the outdoors: Alice Gertrude and Wyatt Andrew, Madison Moon and Ender Wilde, June Olivia and Sloan Sophia, Emerson Grey (Nolan Valiao), and Hana Helena. He will be missed by his sister, Kathleen Nolan Mathews; his brothers, Patrick and Brian (Debby Bach) Nolan all of Syracuse, NY; an aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.
