Obituary of Jean Mumford
Jean Bowyer Mumford, born in Woking, England, October 20, 1942, passed peacefully July 14th, 2022 in Syracuse, NY. She worked as a legal secretary for Sugarman, Wallace, Manheim and Schoenwald and later for the Honorable Kevin J. Mulroy, Walter Hafner and Anthony Aloi.
She is survived by daughters, Julie (Steve) Henderson and Lauren (Wayne) Miller and her four grandchildren: Mackenzie, Collin, Alyssa and Devan. She is also survived by her "tiny baby puppy dog", Cocoa, who is just one of the many animals that Jean rescued over the years - all of whom she adored and overfed.
Jean was funny and fearless and kind. Over the years, she volunteered at Vera House and KittyCorner. She wrote silly poems and loved the Beatles. She looked forward to a glass of Cointreau in the evening and was a big fan of all things chocolate. Jean never simply said "goodbye". She always said "goodbye for now".
She will be dearly missed and memories of her will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Julie and Lauren extend their utmost gratitude to her friends Carla - who took Jean for long walks; Jerri - who was a more than willing accessory in Jean's quest for chocolate; and Susan - who watched countless episodes of Wheel of Fortune with her. They took such good care of her and are truly amazing people.
There will be a gathering for friends and family in the coming weeks. Please contact either Julie or Lauren for details.
You are welcome to make a charitable donation in lieu of flowers to KittyCorner of CNY ONLINE kittycorner.org
Goodbye for now Jean. You really were bloody brilliant.
