Obituary of Norma L. Burke

July 29, 2014 Norma Burke went home to her Lord and Savior on July 29, 2014. Born Norma Lucille Hayes on July 5th, 1924, she lived her entire childhood in Rochester, NH. Norma was a WAVE with the United States Navy during WWII working as a supply clerk. She met the man of her dreams, Charles Burke, from Summerville, MA and they were married for 44 years. Norma lived throughout New England and New York, including Liverpool NY after Charles retired with Sears Roebuck. She had been a resident of the Malta Manor in North Syracuse for the past decade. For her 90th birthday Norma received the greatest gift any family can give, time. She had the chance to be with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews who were able to travel from Canada to Texas to be with her. Norma was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1995. She is survived by her seven children, Jeanne (Peter) Sargent, Nova Scotia, Canada; Patricia Burke (Paul Endich), Provincetown, MA; Thomas Burke (Gary Fredrick) Boston, MA; Robert Burke (Barbara Smith), Detroit, MI; James Burke, Tyler TX; Paul Burke ( Wendy), Baldwinsville NY; Mary Ellen Albiker (Fritz), Camillus, NY. Norma also had 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in North Syracuse, Saturday August 23rd at 10am. Entombment at Assumption Cemetery will follow the service. There will be no calling hours.
