I grew up next to Jays car business. My earliest memories are of seeing him outside with his big, friendly, protective dog Pongo. My younger brothers and I adored Jay. One summer day, my youngest brother who was I think 3-4 at the time, decided to play hide and seek on us. We couldn’t find him. There were big ponds out back and we feared he might of fell in one. Jay heard us screaming outside for him and ran over. When we told Jay, he took off literally running towards the ponds. I don’t remember much more besides the fact that Jay found him. And brought him back to us. We all hugged and we were so happy. I remember standing right next to Jay and hugging him so tight and crying. I also bought my first car from Jay. It wasn’t the greatest of cars, but it ran. And I will always remember my first car, like most people do, and I will think of Jay. My first accident in that car he came over, didn’t tell anyone and put my hood back to somewhat normal. The best way he could. Then went back to his business and didn’t say a word. Jay was a big part of our childhood. We were outside all the time, and at least once a day if not many more times, we would see him. He was actually apart of our lives a lot. The one thing I will always remember is his silly laugh. I will also remember my father and him at war with Pongo and then our dog Daiseys’ poop. Those two never saw eye to eye, I never understood it, but ironically they were there for each other when it was needed. Thank you for being a part of my childhood and my memories. I hope you are with Pongo now and you will be greatly missed.
