Obituary of Thomas Dwyer
“CHECK….CHECK, 1, 2”
Thomas G. Dwyer, 66, of Syracuse, NY, died on May 10th, 2023 at Upstate Medical University Hospital. After a brain cancer diagnosis on November 30th, Tom had less than five and a half months before he peacefully transitioned with his wife Kathe beside him. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Harrington, two daughters, Maya June and Lydia Marie Dwyer, six loving siblings: Maureen, Robert, Timothy, Mary Ann, Joann, and Christopher Dwyer, a loving extended family, and many close friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert P. and Mary E. Dwyer (Lane), and beloved brother Dennis.
Tom grew up in Central NY and graduated from Cazenovia High School. He enjoyed working at Syracuse University, where he was a painter and finisher for many years. He loved playing golf with his brothers and friends, and had a special place in his heart for spending time at Stony Lake. His greatest joy, however, was music. A bass and guitar player as well as singer, Tom was a member of many bands throughout his life with family and friends, including Chili Mac, The Atomics, Quick Change,The Honeymooners, Dr. Killdean, FATE, and Full Tilt. He played guitar every day after work, and the sound echoed through all the heating vents in the house.
Tom was known for his outlandish sense of humor, passionate nature, steadfast loyalty to the Chicago Bears, and a deep love for spending time with his family. He will be missed immensely by all who were lucky enough to know him.
