Obituary of Joan Wilczynski
Joan Wilczynski (Bartoszewski), 83, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at home. She was the wife of Joseph R. Wilczynski. As high school sweethearts and then marriage, they shared 63 beautiful years together.
Born in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Helen Bartoszewski (Sienkiewicz). She graduated with the first graduating class of Sacred Heart High School. She was employed in her earlier years with the New York Telephone Company and later as an office manager with Dr. Stephen Marshall, D.P.M, PC for 26 years.
She was a member of the Polish Home where she attended many gatherings, as well as, her own wedding reception. Joan belonged to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus all of her life. She enjoyed her flower gardens, gardening, canning, baking, cooking, taking Sunday drives, flea marketing with her husband Joe, and visiting with family and friends. She loved her polka parties along with polka music, especially in Alexandria Bay. Butterfield Lake was her favorite family vacation spot. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart and soul to her life. She will be remembered for all of her love and support of the years. She made every holiday and gathering special. She was a loving and caring Wife, Mother and Babci.
She is survived by her spouse Joseph R. Wilczynski, and by her children Joseph J. Wilczynski (Andrea), Lisa DeSantis (Nicholas), Susan Lado (Jason) and Jason Wilczynski. Grandchildren Jennifer Tyler (Ed), Brittany Belding (Alex), Rachel DeSantis (Matt Lonsdale), Kari Manning, Talore DeSantis (Cody Lucey), and Haley Wilczynski. Great-grandchildren Cameron, Elena, Makayla, Lindsey, Marissa and Nina. Also survived by her extended grandchildren Mya, Jordan, Payton and Cami. She is also survived by her sister Carol McWilliams (Thomas) and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Julius and Helen Bartoszewski, her brother Thomas Bartoszewski and granddaughter Lana Mae Wilczynski.
Joan's Family will receive family and friends, Tuesday October 10th, from 8:30 to 9:15 AM in the vestibule of the Basilica prior to Mass.
The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
Burial will be following the mass at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lakeland, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
