Obituary of Tanya Fisher
Tanya Michelle Fisher, 50, of Syracuse, passed away December 7th, 2023. Tanya was born in Syracuse, New York, to the late Verena H. Scharringhausen. She attended Fowler High School where she was a member of the girls varsity basketball team. After high school Tanya went on to work at P&C Grocery and, eventually, The Hotel Syracuse.
Tanya had an infectious laugh and brought positivity and intense energy to everything she did. Tanya enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and could always be found playing football and baseball – teaching her younger brothers and throwing pitches to her nieces and nephews for hours. Tanya was an avid sports fan who loved everything relating to Syracuse University Athletics; she especially loved the NY Yankees. Her favorite players were Gerry McNamara, Carmelo Anthony, Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada.
Tanya found the most joy being a mother to her beloved sons, Luman and Elijah, playing sports, cooking meals, laughing, being together as a family around the holidays, and spending time with her two grandchildren. She was a phenomenal homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.
Tanya is survived by her sons Luman E. Paro IV and Elijah Paro; their father, Luman E. Paro III; grandchildren Nova Paro and Jaxson McGraw; siblings MacArthur Fisher of Nevada, Gregory (Anna) Fisher of Syracuse, Matina Quiles of DeWitt, Angela Moore of North Carolina, Tyrone (Sally) Fisher of Jamesville, LeRoy Johnson of Florida, Jamaine Johnson of Florida, Danielle Fisher of North Carolina, Kiesha King of Clay, Carmella (Stafford) Cummings of Rochester, and Raphael (Jane) Massie of California; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Tanya’s life will take place during calling hours December 19th, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204 from 9:30am-10:30am. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am prior to Tanya being laid to rest at Loomis Hill Cemetery.
