Courtney, My deepest condolences to you upon the loss of your father. I am so moved to see his picture because I see so much of him in your face - or perhaps so much of you in his face. This is always a mystery to me & startling. I'm glad you had this time wth him before his death. May you be well. You are quite a special person in your own right & I'm grateful to see some of where that comes from.

Andy Periale and I visited Jim at Kripalu in the early 70's. Such a radiant smile...
We did not keep in touch, but I can see from his memorial photo that he never lost that twinkle in his eye.

Courtney and Devon and the Rile Family,
My heart aches with you at the loss of our dear friend Jim and your extra special father, brother, grandfather, and extended family member. He was truly "one of a kind".
He displayed so many unique gifts and talents all outlined brilliantly in the obituary. His love for his family was expressed to me often by him. You all were his pride and joy. When he talked about Courtney, Devon, and/or the grand kids, he just "lit up".
Please know that I will keep all of you close in thought and prayer. I loved Jim as a brother. He was so very special to so many of us.
Please take extra good care of each other.
With love and appreciation for knowing Jim,
Bob McLaughlin

Q: What will you never forget about James?
A: Jim and I shared a love of music and many common friends during our years together at Ridgewood High School. He was my first boyfriend. We went to the proms together and many parties. I loved his smile, passion for life, curiosity and of course, his attentiveness to me! We had kept in touch sporadically over the years but in recent years, he kept to himself. He was a big part of my past and I will miss him.

Jim was a great guy and a great friend as we shared a love of music together. We both sang in Christ Church Choir in Ridgewood. We enjoyed All State and all County choirs together. We had some fun laughs at parties and dances. I will always remember the good times together. I love you Jim. Rest In Peace friend.
