Scouting and succeeding at Scouting, were important to Diane and her late husband, Rocco. One notable memory of excellence was her "Graveyard theme" for a Halloween Parade. She had all the Scouts dressed up as a complete graveyard as tombstones and pillars with a ghost figure that moved back and forth. In an era before the internet and online templates and instructions, her vision and effort were amazing. I don't recall if we won first place, but it was an event that made us all feel special and part of something bigger than ourselves. I am thankful that Diane (and Rocco) volunteered their time (a lot of their time) to make Scouting meaningful and important to a generation of youngster in Auburn.
