Obituary of Charles C. Barsh

Charles "Charlie" C. Barsh, 87, passed away peacefully at St. Camillus Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Charles was born in Detroit Michigan on October 14, 1936 to Charles and Margaret (Mohnach) Barsh.
Charlie's family moved to the Tug Hill area where he was raised and graduated from General Martin High School in Glenfield, NY. After graduation the family moved to Buffalo and Charlie joined the United States Army. Charlie married and raised his three daughters in Strykersville, NY then moved his family to Baldwinsville, NY. After his children graduated Charlie bought his Aunt's home in Turin which he called his favorite place on earth where he resided until his health declined. Charlie then moved to Cato, NY to be closer to his family. Charlie retired from New Venture Gear (formally New Process Gear) as a Millwright.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family, trout fishing and snowmobiling (only Ski-Doo) on Tug Hill, drag racing and anything Mopar. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. Charlie is survived by his 3 daughters who he loved greatly Karen Robinson, Kathleen Barsh and Kristen (Don) Wright, his 5 grandsons, Conor and Alex Robinson, Quinn Hudson, Drake and Duke Wright, one great grandson Clayton Robinson. Survived by siblings Rosemary (Bob) Hayhurst, Linda (Bill) Greiff, Kenneth (Carol), Jerry (Gail), Debbie (Bob) Gelm, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his granddaughter Maisey Hudson, brothers William, John, Alan, David and sister Margie Venson and nephew Robert Hayhurst.
Charlie was a very kind and gentle man and was adored by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend a Thank you to the staff at St. Camillus Nursing who cared for him for the past three years.
Private Celebration of Life will be held October 5, 2024. In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the LaBouff Cole American Legion, Cato, NY.
