Obituary of Peter George Manos Jr
Peter George Manos, Jr., 69, of Syracuse NY October 23, 1954 – September 17, 2024 Pete was predeceased by his father, George Manos, Sr. of Greece, his mother Viola Vanderworken, uncle Lloyd George Lapp, sister Peggy Oliver, his wife Deborah Manos and granddaughter, little Michelle Manos. He leaves behind a daughter Michelle Manos and son Peter “Sonny” Manos 3rd both of the Onondaga Nation, Robert Ross Manos of Nedrow, and Brian Manos of Camillus. He also leaves behind a brother, Arthur Vanderworken, Jr., three sisters, Penny Vaughn of Lousiana, Wendy Geer of Cleveland, and Darlene Wing of Syracuse, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pete served in the Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC in the 1970’s and was discharged with an Honorary National Defense Service Medal Rifle Expert Badge. He was a proud father of his four children. He was a great friend to many. Pete enjoyed riding his motorcycles and playing pool with Team Shifty’s. He worked as a mechanic in his own garage for many years on the Southside of Syracuse. He was a well known comical guy nicknamed “Disco Pete” and “Pete the Greek.” He loved the outdoors, playing his guitar, camping and fishing. Pete also enjoyed collecting antiques. He was a loving husband and father to all four of his children and grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd. Syracuse, NY on Thursday October 3rd. at 1:00pm
A celebration of life for Pete Manos will also be held at Shifty’s Bar & Grill, 1401 Burnet Ave Syracuse, NY on Friday October 4th. from 1pm- 6pm.
