Obituary of Michelle Schisler

Michelle Schisler, known to her family and friends as “Mickey”, 72, of Syracuse passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Wife of Kevin Schisler, they shared over 48 years of marriage. Born in Syracuse, NY to Francis and Mary Hosek, she attended St. Lucy’s and Bishop Ludden High School.  She worked side by side with her brother,  Francis Hosek at Eastern Painting Company for over 45 years.  A fierce lover of music, she could always be found enjoying local bands at venues all across the city (or anywhere a good band could be heard/found), listening to the radio and always ready to dance.  She spent a majority of her summers traveling the waterways of New York State on the family boat, The Little Wonder.  An extremely talented seamstress, avid crafter, and a lover of all things plants and cooking, she truly loved all the little things life had to offer.   Her family was her absolute pride and joy, and she brought her strength and passion for life to all she met.  She is survived by her husband Kevin Schisler, daughter Heather Coleman (Adam Coleman), granddaughters Bridget and Emma Coleman, and sister Judy Viencek.  A wake at 4:00pm followed by a memorial service at 5:00pm will be held at Hollis Funeral Home on Monday, September 30.  A private burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Cross.  Please visit www.redcross.org/donate for all the donation options.
