Obituary of Cynthia Ferris
Cynthia Ferris passed away peacefully at the age of 69 with her family by her side on the
morning of Friday, September 27th, 2024 at Crouse Hospital. Cynthia wasn’t one for obituaries
or having her photo posted, We all used to joke with her that she needed to let us take pictures
of her so we at least had some good photos for her funeral. But if you knew her, you would
know she secretly would’ve loved everyone reading about her and how special of a mom,
grandma, sister, aunt, friend, and person she was.
If you were fortunate enough to share moments with Cynthia, you experienced a rare
light in this world. An embodiment of resilience, compassion, and unwavering selflessness. She
would be the first to help anyone no matter who they were. Cynthia was one of a kind, she
sacrificed so much just to ensure everyone around her had a better life.
But don’t let her sweet demeanor fool you she also had a spark of stubbornness in her, if
you gave her anything but her Diet Pepsi and Lay’s chips you would be hearing about it for the
rest of the day. And you had better not mess with her because she would always warn you that
she would come back to haunt you for it. Or, you’d get smacked with her legendary line: “If I
wanted shit, I’d squeeze your head.” It was these witty habits and traits that everyone loved
about her and her lively personality. Without Cynthia in our lives, we will undeniably feel a
profound emptiness. She had such a bright light to her, though she may be gone, that radiant
light will forever shine on in our hearts.
They say the stars in the sky are openings from heaven, when you see one twinkling
bright perhaps it’s our loved ones shining down reassuring us they are near. We love you to the
moon, the stars, and back Grandma.
Cynthia is survived by her two children Stan Ferris and Melissa Murphy, three
Grandchildren Madison Murphy, Bradley Murphy, and Logan Ferris, Sisters Helen (Gary)
Bradshaw and Debra (Terry) Carnrite, Brother John (Carrie) Robison, Great Grandchildren,
Nieces, Nephews, and cousins.
Per Cynthia’s wishes, there will be no services but a Celebration of Life honoring
her memory will be held on October 27th, 2024 at 1 pm located no other than her favorite
place, her home. Everyone is more than welcome to come and pay their respects: Please
email Melissa Murphy for address or any other inquiries (melissamurphy717@gmail.com).
