February 28, 2015 Genevieve (Mazur) Czechowicz, 92 0f North Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Francis House on Saturday, February 28, 2015. She was born in Poland and was the daughter of Jozef and Jozefa (Drapla) Mazur. She and her husband, Mieczyslaw immigrated to the United States in 1951 in hopes of starting a new life. She was employed by All-State Stamping Co. and later R.E. Dietz, from where she retired. She was a lifetime communicant of Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Genevieve has finished her work here and has entered heaven’s gates to reunite with family and friends she has so dearly missed. She leaves behind multitude of memories.“Genny” as she was known to many was hardworking, honest and generous. She was an exceptional cook and baker. Nothing gave her more pleasure than cooking for her family and friends. She made meals rich in her Polish heritage such as golabki and pierogi. Her tort, babka, and piernik was surpassed by none and enjoyed by all. Her green thumb and flourishing garden often led neighbors and friends to seek advice which she willing gave over a cup of tea and her delicious coffee cake. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Her beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, were her pride and joy. She will be missed, but will live on in the hearts of all that knew her. Genevieve was predeceased by her husband Mieczyslaw, and her infant son Jozef.
