Obituary of Gary W. Foley

March 31, 2015 Gary W Foley, 76, passed away Tuesday March 31, 2015. He was born December 27, 1938 in Harrisville NY to John “Roy” and Minnie Foley. After graduating from Lyons Falls High School in 1956 he enlisted in the Air Force. From 1956 to 1960 he served in the USAF Security Service at Elmendorf AFB Alaska and at Vandenberg AFB California. In 1963 he received an AAS degree in Chemical Technology from Broome Community College and then began his career, working at Allied Chemical Corp from 1963 to 1990. He started as a chemical technician and was promoted to a chemist through his excellence in Analytical Chemistry and Glass Analysis. In 1990 he worked as the chief chemist for Natrium Products in Cortland NY until his retirement in 2009. Gary enjoyed reading, history, family genealogy, cooking and baking, but especially enjoyed working in chemistry, which he missed very much after his retirement. Gary was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Philip Foley, Jack Foley and Richard Foley and sister-in-law Joyce Foley, brothers-in-law Amos Lesperance and Paul Stoeckel and brother-in-law Tony Facciolo. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Christine; his three daughters Kathleen, Erin and Kelly Foley; his two sisters Mary Evelyn Lesperance of Lowville NY and Rosemary Stoeckel of Binghamton NY, sister-in-law Verna Foley and many nieces and nephews and their families. Gary is also survived by his extended family: sisters-in-law Tina Facciolo and CallieAnn Pappastavrou; brother-in-law George Pappastavrou; Christine’s nieces Teresa, Maria, Adrieanna and Cindy; and nephews-in-law Jim and Chris, and many close friends.
