Obituary of Helen L. Almonte

September 6, 2015 Helen L. (Wegerski) Almonte, 90, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Upstate University Hospital. Helen was a homemaker and loved to play bingo and going to the casino. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Basilica. She was predeceased by sisters, Jane Dietz and Mary Wegerski and brothers, Theodore, John, Myron, Alfred and Robert. Surviving are her husband, Albert, of 62 years; children, James (Deborah) Almonte, Patricia (Gary) Kinslow, Leonard (Karen) Almonte, Robert Almonte and Barbara (Mike) Dunn; 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Per Helen’s request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Sacred Heart Basilica, 927 Park Ave, Syracuse. Burial will follow in The Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to the Sacred Heart Basilica.
