Obituary of Diego D. Fuertes

October 28, 2015 Diego Fuertes passed away at home surrounded by the love of his family on October 28, 2015. He was an emergency room physician, he retired from medicine so that he could spend more time with his family, and in particular his grandson Joey. He graduated from the University of the Philippines where he was an entrance scholar. He studied at San Francisco State University where he received a degree in Biological Sciences. He graduated from the Institute of Medicine, Far Eastern University, Manila where he was valedictorian. He was appointed Research and Teaching Fellow in Biochemistry and Pharmacology. He was chief intern at the US Air Force Hospital, Clark Air Base, Philippines. He served as an attending physician at the Daytona International Speedway. He was an accomplished pianist, tailor, chef and linguist. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, daughter Elizabeth (Bob), son Tyrone, and beloved grandson Joey, and family in California, Arkansas, Canada, and the Philippines. Funeral mass will be at 9:30am on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Holy Cross Church, Dewitt, NY.
