Uncle John was a gentle man, a gentleman, and the very embodiment of family values. Our younger generations will be so much the poorer for having lost the chance to know him and learn from him. Our thoughts and prayers are now with Aunt Stella, Leonard, young John, and the rest of the family.

When I think of family, I always think of John and Stella.
John loved life. I have so many good memories of John such as Easter breakfast that we had for many years, the air conditioner that he bought over and installed at my house. When I was sick and in bed, it was so hot in my room that John came over and gave us this air conditioner. He told my parents that he didn't want to see me in the cast and being so hot. These are just a couple of things I remember. Amazing friend to my parents and a second dad to me! He is now with his son! God Bless you John, until we meet again. Luv u

To Stella,Lenny and John Jr.
We truly lost a special man of real character and respect for all that truly were fortunate to have known him. He blessed us with his smile and entertaining quips. He was always guided by his religious faith .His charitable ways contributed to the numerous hours he donated of his time for the Bakery and Knights of Columbus. He was a wonderful role model and guided his three boys to develop a wonderful work ethic and a respect for their friendships. Family and his Christian faith were always first on this list. He extended his generosity to many of us over the years and I feel lucky that we first introduced when his son, Bill, whom became my best friend, played along side me in the Syracuse Babe Ruth All Stars in 1971. A long term friendship with the Brown and Smorol families resulted and remains today.
May God bless all of your family and may the Good Lord prepare him a well-deserved special place at his table.
Your family friend
Dr. David Brown

I have such fond memories of Easter breakfasts at John and Stella's. They were always so warm and welcoming. And I remember John stopping by our house each week to drop off the scores to my mother, when she "kept the books" for the Sackett Tract League. Also, I recall him serving drinks at Harrison bakery around the holidays...always with his Christmas tie on. He was always full of energy! John and Stella were such dear friends to my parents and our family and both of them will always hold a special place in my heart. So sorry for your family's loss, but what a wonderful legacy of love he has left! Rest in peace, dear man.

To the family of John Smorol -
I had the privilege of working with John years ago in TR-2 at Carrier for about 5 years. Being my first professional job out of school, I was blessed having several mentors, especially John when seeking advice with engineering, materials and production challenges. Another member of the greatest generation has left us but his spirit lives on through his wife and family. Our hearts and prayers are with you at this time. As a fellow Knight greeting John, what he undoubtedly knew throughout his life, and what he experiences now. Vivat Jesus! God bless. Tony & Lisa Liccione & family.
