Obituary of Julian F. Stanczyk

December 9, 2007 Julian F. Stanczyk, Sr., 91 of DeWitt passed away Sunday. Julie was born in Syracuse on January 5th, 1916 to Michael and Florence Bartoszewska Stanczyk. During WWII Julie worked on defense work at Halcomb Steel but retired 1981 as service manager for Stevens Office Interiors. He was a longtime Trustee of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Past President of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society. Julie was Past Grand Knight of Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus Council 6282, Past Faithful Navigator and Color Corp member of Sacred Heart Assembly 1725 and was a recipient of The Knight of the Year Award. Julie was Past President and Hall of Fame member of the Syracuse Men’s Bowling Association. He participated in 45 consecutive ABC Tournaments. Julie was a member of the Knights of Columbus Metropolitan Bowling League and received The Chris Koll Memorial Sportsmanship Award 1976-1977. In his prime, Julie maintained a 200 average and bowled five 299 games. In his spare time, Julie enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. His first wife, Nellie in 1981 and second wife, Bernice 1997, predecease him. Julie is survived by his son, Julian (Nancy) Stanczyk Jr. of Jamesville, grandchildren; Frank Stanwyck of Central Square, Lynda (Bob) Russell of E.Syracuse, Mark Stanczyk of Irmo, SC, Eric (Sue) Stanczyk of Baldwinsville, Karyn (Gerry) Ratliff of Brewerton, Shaun (Michelle) Stanczyk, of East Syracuse, step-grandchildren; Tom (Linda) Kalbus, Tina (Ted) Kalbus-Smith, Sisters; Helen Dyl , Niagara Falls, Stella Brownell of NC, 10 great grandchildren; step-children, Tom(Chris) of Rochester, Richard and Joe Szymanoski of AZ, Christine French of CA and Bernadette (Tom) Conroy of AZ; several nieces and nephews. Calling Hours: Tuesday 4 to 7 PM at Hollis Funeral Home. Funeral Services: Wednesday 9:30 AM at Hollis Funeral Home and 10:30 AM at The Basilica of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Julie will be buried, next to his wife Nellie, in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Geddes.
