Obituary of Edward J. Lyskawa

February 21, 2008 Edward J. Lyskawa, 86 of Big River, CA and formerly of Lyncourt passed away Thursday February 21st, 2008 at the home of his daughter, Donna. Eddie was born in Syracuse on August 13th, 1921. Eddie was a Proud Veteran of WWII and served with the 101st Airborne 327th Glider Infantry Regiment “Screaming Eagles”. Eddie landed in Normandy during the First Wave on June 6th, 1944. He fought in all the campaigns. After landing in Normandy, a major “bottleneck” occurred in the heavily German occupied village of Carentan, under the direction of Gen. Maxwell Taylor the 327thGIR, 501st and 506th fought to relieve this bottleneck. Eddie also fought in Bastogne, Operation Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge and Ardennes Forest. Eddie was a lifetime member of the American Legion Pulaski Post 1650 and VFW Post 3146. Eddie retired after 30 years with the United States Postal Service and was a member of the NALC Branch 134. Eddie is predeceased by his wife Dorothy 1997 and son, David in 2006. He is survived by his children; Donna (Robert) Franklin of Big River, CA, George (Teresa) Lyskawa of Mesa, AZ and Brenda (Scott) Duffey of Hemet, CA., 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
