Janina Simon, 88, formerly of Solvay, passed away Monday under the loving care of Iroquois Nursing Home staff. Fondly called Jenny by her friends and neighbors, she was born in Poland on February 24, 1922. She immigrated to the USA in June 1949. She was a communicant of The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Family was most important in her life. She loved spending time with her entire family, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved all animals and took in many strays. Janina was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Bronislaw Simon (1988), her parents Maciej and Antonina Szymanski, her sister, Genevieve Wyskwar and her brothers, Stanislaw and Jan Szymanski Janina is survived by her children, Stanley (Debbie) Simon, Mary (Al) Stalsonberg and Annie (Ed) Leubner; 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren; her brother, Joseph Szymanski; and sisters, Anna Makara, Aleksandra Jakubiszak and Henryka Szymanska Calling Hours: Thursday 4 to 7 PM at Hollis Funeral Home. Funeral Services: Friday 9:30 AM at Hollis Funeral Home and 10:30 AM in The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
