Obituary of Tamara Springer

August 13, 2012 Tamara (Tammy) Springer passed away peacefully Monday at Cunningham Nursing Home at the age of 92. Born Tamara Pechan in the Ukraine on July 17th, 1920 she immigrated to the US in 1952 with her husband Heinrich and infant daughter Ilona. Tamara worked multiple jobs to help support the family, doing custodial care at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where the family lived. She was a housekeeper and childcare provider, was employed by B. G. Sulzle and Syracuse China and worked as a cook at multiple fraternities and sororities at Syracuse University before she retired. She was an amazing cook and baker and so adored by the students. She was an incredible gardener who could grow anything and spent many hours tending to her beloved roses. Tamara was predeceased by her husband Heinrich (Henry) who died in 2002. Surviving are her daughter Ilona Monika (Andrew) Sapoznikov, her son Eduard (Larisa)Ostrovetsky of Latvia; grandchildren Alexander Sapoznikov, Tamara Cass, Ilona DeRoberts, Stasic Otrovetsky and Valeria Taylor. Great-grandchildren Joseph, Henry, Hannah,Sasha,Mark and Olga. She was a wonderful wife, mother, devoted Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She will truly be missed. There are no calling hours. A memorial service celebrating Tamara’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church , 116 W. Glen Avenue, Syracuse NY 13205.
