Dad, I miss you so much. Your always on my mind. I miss our morning coffees, I miss our conversations, I miss your laugh, I miss watching you and my kids together, I miss watching sports and yelling at the tv with you, I miss picking up the phone to call you and hearing your voice saying just the simple word “hello,” everyday, sometimes 8, 9, 10 times a day. I not only lost you, my dad, but my best friend. As your sons said, I also miss fishing (since it was my thigh that got hooked), football on the backroad, basketball competitions in the kitchen, boxing in the backyard, just to name a few! It was me and you, Dad. We always had each other’s back no matter what. After all, you are one of the people in my life that I love the most♥️

On my way into work today there was a single star in the sky shining so bright. I look for these little signs of you watching over us each and every day. I miss you Dad and wish that I could have one last conversation with you where you would respond, but this will not be so I will continue to look for these signs of you. I still keep running all of the details of your hospital stay through my mind, especially that last Friday that I got to tell you that I loved you and would see you on Monday. Still so unbelievable...can I still be in shock??

I was going to light a candle for my mom but then I thought about it and it didn't make sense. My mom and dad have been together since the age of 12 and that's when they lit their candle which is still burning, as they are one. When you see my mom you see my dad. That's what not only their six children they created together know, hear, and see but what everyone else who knows Raymond and Debra Benz also knows, hears, and sees. It was always Ray and Debbie and will always be Ray and Debbie.

My dad,
I miss you more and more everyday dad. I find myself looking out the window hoping to see the blue van pulling in my driveway or the kids yelling "Pa is here." I miss you coming over for coffee first thing in the morning. I kept pouring you your cup every morning hoping you would have one more cup with me. So I decided I'm still going to continue to have coffee with you and pour you your cup everyday anyway. I'm going to miss you coming over to watch basketball with me. As we both would be yelling and cussing at the tv. (all six of us got the cussing from you) You won't be coming over to watch UFC with me or texting me saying something like ";;he got knocked the f--- out' I can't call and ask you to just come hang out with me. Most of all I miss hearing you say ";I love you"; and feeling your kiss on my cheek everyday. We had each other's back though. We could always count on each other. If I had it you had it, if you had it I had it.

So sorry to here that Ray had been ill. Have many fond memories of Ray in the "old days". Devoted family man always. Well liked and loved by all. Hope your family finds comfort knowing Ray is at rest.
