Kim and family: I only met MJ this past few months and it seemed I had known her my entire life. Witty, funny and full of life!! Inspirational to those people whose lives she crossed. When I think of her I will see her in those funny glasses, tiara and feathered boa.

I just wanted to say I am SO sorry for your loss. I love you ALL very much..and although Aunt Mary Jane and I with our STRONG personalities sometimes clashed..I still loved (love) her just the same. I regret that because of circumstance, I am unable to attend. Kim..stay beautiful..your mom instilled great value in you..and you will ALWAYS be one of my FAVORITE people in the world. Where do I even begin? When I started at Niagara Mohawk almost 30 years ago, I was offered a job to work for Mary Jane Kalil who was the one and only female Manager at Niagara Mohawk at the time. Before I set foot on the property I was told I would never survive working for her, that she was tough as nails and that I would crumble. I quickly found out that her expectations were simple, don't be late for work, don't skip out early and give each day an honest days work. Mary Jane quickly became not only a boss, but a dear friend, a trusted confidant and outside of my own parents, my biggest fan (the feeling was mutual). We shared together all of life's trials and tribulations, celebrations....we often laughed until we cried. Although she retired many years ago and we didn't get to see each other or talk as often as we would have liked, our bond never wavered. She was one of those handful of people that you could pick up the phone at any time day or night to provide guidance, prayer, support and love. Last week when I saw her for the last time, I told her in my family we don't say goodbye, we only say "see you later" I then said, "See you later my dear" and as clear as day she said, "YOU BETTER!" in typical MJ fashion. My husband Jeff said if anyone in this universe had a direct ticket to heaven it was MJ. As I reflect on her passing, as much as I will miss her, I am going to focus on how blessed I was to have our life paths cross. She always epitomized my personal mantra "Never, never, never give up" and always gave hope for a brighter day. I have no doubt when she made her grand entrance to heaven it was quite a scene. My heart is so sad and feels so heavy in my chest right now that I have no words. Sharing friendship with Mary Jane through prayer group and our mutual love for our Catholic faith is what I'll cherish forever. She never complained even when she was in total pain, she offered it all up for the poor souls in purgatory and those who had no one to pray for them. A true angel on earth and one that will be watching over all of us from above. I'm really going to miss her and I send my deepest condolences to Kimmie and the entire family.
